Going green
taking our corporate social responsibilities seriously
At Channel Telecom we take green issues seriously. The Company has some key attributes which lead to our low carbon footprint, and it's our policy to adopt practices which will maintain this drive.
We joined the Green Achiever scheme in 2010, and as part of this we audited our environmental impact and subsequently created action plans to reduce it. The result of this work is that in 2012 we achieved the "silver" level accreditation and have firm plans to gain "gold" in the near future.
Right sized premises
Whilst some companies seem to flaunt their success by occupying buildings that appear far bigger than necessary, we are based in an office which is appropriately sized for the number of people expect to be based in it over the next few years.
Energy efficiency
We are doing all we can to make our premises more energy efficient and thus to minimise our carbon footprint.
Recycling
We have a policy of recycling our waste wherever practical.
Home working
Rather than insisting all our people travel to the office every day, some of them work from home, thereby reducing fuel consumption and enabling our premises to be smaller and consume less energy than otherwise.
Paperless office
We encourage our customers to accept all their bills via email, and our billing portal allows them to investigate the detail behind their bills without the need to print.
Wherever acceptable to our customers we ask them to sign contracts electronically, thereby avoiding the need to travel to site to get a physical signature or even to retain a printed version.
Portfolio selection
We have chosen to offer services through our portfolio which support the efforts of both ourselves and our customers to reduce environmental footprint. Through the use of collaboration tools such as our audio-conferencing solution, the number of miles driven by a workforce can be significantly reduced.
